Quick-change systems - an advance?

Among all the chatter about Breguet’s new Type XX, there’s one thing that is generally interesting - the system for quick-changing straps. It uses traditional lugs and spring bars (looks like it could even work with fixed bars) and allows one to swap straps in and out easily.

This looks like something that anyone could adopt - the watch is actually conventional, it appears you just need different endings on the straps.

Could this be a game-changer if the strap industry adopts it?

This looks similar to IWC's EasX-CHANGE® system

From IWC's website... www.iwc.com ...

It doesn’t look similar…

It looks exactly the same! So…are we on the verge of a new generation of easy-change straps (and maybe even bracelets?) that can be used with any watch? Rather than proprietary systems, something universal that works with existing watches would be frankly...

it sure would!
