Last week, my friend played two different minute repeaters for me. First, he played a Patek 5079:
The cathedral gongs on the 5079 have a melodic sound that is breathtaking! Next, he played an IWC Grand Complication:
The sound is thin and hollow -- a stark contrast to the Patek.
When I returned home, I played my Ulysse Nardin Sonata (cathedral gong alarm -- not a repeater):
I continue to be impressed with the melodic sound of the Sonata -- it sounds far more like the 5079 than the IWC.
