Part 2 of 2, The Union Glashütte Launch Event

 


The launch of UNION GLASHÜTTE was at  'After Hours' located at one of the Kuala Lumpur malls - LOT 10.


At about 7pm, some of the guests arrived.

About 7:30pm, most of the guests had arrived.

Beers were served, as it is relevant to German hospitality smile

A Sales Associate was showing his Averin to the guests ...

Meanwhile at the UNION GLASHÜTTE corner, seemed like a guest was preparing to pay!


Other Sales Associates were busy attending to enquries ...


Models showned to guests.  However seldom the boxes were taken out.  If so, likely to be purchased.



At 8pm, Mr Bernard Yong, General Manager of Swatch Group Malaysia greeted and thanked the guests for taking time
to attend the launch of UNION GLASHÜTTE in Malaysia.

Next Mr Yong introduced Mr Adrian Bosshard ...


Mr Adrian Bosshard provided some details about the brand UNION GLASHÜTTE and where it is positioned in the
Swatch Group.


After which he passed the stage to his Sales & Marketing Manager, Armin Graeser and he brought us through
the history of UNION GLASHÜTTE.


Going through the history of the GLASHÜTTE


Next he explained the works done on the movement - the finishing, the bluing of screws and timing.


After the presentation, it was back to mingling again ...


More drinks and canapes ...


The emcee, then announced the first couple who purchased a pair of UNION GLASHÜTTE watches.

At 8:30pm, the emcee called for attention ... it's a surprise lucky draw for a piece of UNION GLASHÜTTE watch!

Mr Adrian Bosshard invited one of the Swatch staff to pick up the lucky winner.



Talking about service...Mr Adrian Bosshard adjusted the strap to the wrist of the winner.

the designs are interesting and in vogue (especially the ladies model) I, too, would prefer their original movement to the ETA one. On the other hand, if it means that the watches are sold for a lower price then it is a good opportunity for someone to be ...

No doubt for those who knows UNION earlier, previous movements were more attractive, as many had voiced out. We shall see how the brand's new direction will be. Kong

1. No more "temple" logo. 2. Use ETA movement. 3. Completely new look - not a tiny bit of the shadow of old Union. 4. Very generous - lucky draw gift is a watch 5. In the same category with Longines but much more expensive. Thanks Swatch Group and Mr. Ber...

But I'm quite disappointed. For me, UG was before an excellent brand with in-house calibers at a reasonable price. We all know the story and even if the design of these watches is interesting or at least original, we are far from the horological contents ... 

Too bad, looks like not much original DNA left

I miss the previous pieces too. From the chart, the group could have positioned the brand to address another segment and not to compete against own more prestigious GO. Here 2 links for you : www.thepurists.com and www.tp178.com Kong

I don't mean to pile on the bandwagon here... but like everyone else, I'm Very Glad I purchased my UNION watches when I did: The reverse next to an IWC 3707: Who knows... perhaps UNION will be revived again... but 'till then, I wince when I see their new ...

Your pictures are just fantastic! I do miss the earlier UGs though, as I thought they were very well done with pretty movements to boot -- there was one regulator model that I particularly enjoyed. I feel that the spirit of the old Union watches didn't qu...

If you see the above prior posts, all have noted the current UG is a brand new company. Perhaps the company should try one model with the previous movement. Kong

the design looks quite different than what we found UG in the past...

The old Union watches were only for Austria and Germany, thus very limited legal channels. Yes - we had grey imports in some countries but not enough for the masses. Some of the manufacturing capacity of the GO movements were diverted to Union. With the r...

I like the traditional dress models that emit the strong "German pedigree" in watch design and proportion - models that are like the ones posted by "patrizio", and "Bry_j1". Those are truly beautiful pieces. I am a bit saddened to see such brand with alre...

it is logical not cannibalised its own more prestigious segment. Indeed only time will tell. End of the day, it is business and to survive and proper, products need to appeal to masses with their current level of pricing. Kong
