Oh Lordy, I've succumbed again!! The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ceramic

May 20, 2019,10:02 AM

Let us be clear, I promised myself that I would keep to my decision not to buy any more watches. Well at least I had honourable intentions,,,,,,right?

When the first Bulgari Octo Finissimo came out I was intrigued, but remembered my resolution.

Some months later I was at an airport and, somehow, driiiiiifted towards the Bulgari boutique. Strange how that happened!!!

Anyway since I was there I decided to have a good look at the Finissimo......why not?

It was a feast for the eyes and senses. Wonderously thin and light, amazing design,,,,and the bracelet. Woof woof!!!

But on the wrist it was a trifle too loud. Phew, wiping my brow I went on my way.

Then came the extraordinary Steel. What an amazing finish and texture but once again far too much for my retiring nature. Safe again!!

And the Gold version. Ummm, what to say? Err,,,,it's very gold. Very, very gold, but not for me.

Then I came across a Titanium on a leather strap, at an excellent price......now that's pretty well there. But my conscience spoke.

You must not buy

You will not buy!

You cannot buy!!!

After deep soul searching I somehow managed to convince the ravening watch lust to back off.

So far so good. But then Basel and the Black Ceramic. Dear reader, what can I say? I'm weak and succumbed to the discreet charms of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ceramic.

Thanks for reading!!

You had no chance!! I too probably dropped by at the same Bulgari boutique and tried on a similar watch but I do know how 'strong' your resolve is when it comes to all things beautiful! Well done on this superb buy. A great watch in that price category an...

Yeah, helpless in the face of irrestistible temptation

Aiyah!! What's going to happen lah? I am truly delighted with it and am selling my Cartier Tank Cintree to celebrate! Kindest regards, Antony

Wait a minute!!

You are sacrificing your Tank Cintree for the Bulgari?? That is one helluva compliment to the Bulgari because the Cartier is a nice looking watch too. Which metal is the Cartier in?

You have sold a gem of a watch Ant. Blue Breguet hands and a total classic. Have you sold this watch yet? Please PM me

So I listed the big C

at what I thought was a fair price. In the first morning I received five very serious enquiries. I sort of agreed to sell it to one of them but before it was done another buyer offered about 15% MORE than my asking. Good heavens!! I must have wildly under...

You should have asked me Ant!

The Tank Cintree is a very desirable watch and I have been studying the model since its first release almost 90 years ago!! No that I am not old

You two are strong of resolve but weak under pressure

Good thing this isn't going to lead to ruin, imprisionment or worse -- just to showing up on time, looking sharp! Cazalea

that is a very cool piece

this is one outstanding piece, and the ceramic makes it even more interesting, surely if one wants to wear it daily!Love it! Grtz,Dom

Thank you,

That was my rationalization anyway!! So a multitude of possibilities ensue.....te-hee )

I was going to say you needed to get rid of your Lange Tourbillon to justify this SECOND new addition (gifting it to me, of course)

but I see that rascal Sham may have beaten me to it. Or at least your Cartier.

Huge congrats! As someone who gets really annoyed by scratches, I love the idea of an all-ceramic case.

I'm also a big fan of the simultaneously elegant+futuristic look that this watch pulls off so well. Definitely hope to try one on as soon as I get the chance!

I reccommend it

but I don't know if it will be truly scratch resistant, time will tell. If it's scuff resistant then I will be happy. I agree with you about the design. ATB Antony

... There was really no way out. That is a phenomenal piece and you deserve it, Anthony. - Scott

Yeah, no escape.

Heeeeeeelp!! I am glad that you like it. It still has the glow of newness. Kind regards, Antony

It Was a Shock

to put the original Titanium on my wrist, it had so much prescence, so much style, but so slim. The Ceramic has the same but in the opposite direction, almost anti-gravity if you get my confused metaphor. Maybe like a black hole: retaining vast energy. Ki...

Very stealth and gorgeous

I am quite delighted with it. I have never owned anything remotely like it before. A refreshing pleasure. I hope that you are keeping well. Kind regards, Antony

Yes, quite different from the elegant Chopards and Bexei's and the like

Adds a nice variety to your stellar collection

Well I'd hardly call my modest collection stellar

It is wonderful to me, but a mere trifle when compared to others I've seen. But isn't that the way of everything? Kindest regards, Antony
