Time : 12:55

Half way to SWA.

A couple of sights along the journey.

On the left is the new Singapore Flyer ( a Giant Observation Wheel or GOW) and the buildings (at the background) are the Central Business District,  the Financial Centre of Singapore.

A closer shot of The Singapore Flyer, the world's tallest Giant Observation Wheel ( not ferris wheel). The wheel's diameter is
150 m and the height is 169 m, like that of a 42-storey building.  Each capsule can carry 28 people and per rotation is about 30mins. Officially starting on 1 March 2008.

This building is Suntec Tower 3, where SWA is located on the 23rd floor.

Time : 13:05

We arrived at Suntec Tower 3.
SWA has kindly arranged a lunch for all.

Hungry participants formed a beeline towards the restaurant.

Oops...I'm also famished, so forgot to take some pictures during the lunch.... hey, any Malaysia Purists have some pictures, please supplement,
Thanks smile.

Time : 14:05

Since it was a Saturday afternoon (after office hour), everyone have to register!

Time : 14:12

By the time we reached the Sincere Watch Academy (SWA).

Headmaster, Patrick Tan allowed everyone to everyone to settle down, walk around to familiarise with the academy, ordered their drinks and restroom break.

Observed it has updated with many new reference books and watch-magazines from all over the world.

The laboratory was setup already.

Several  nice conceptual sketches (which seldom seen)  of IWC were on the walls...

Time : 14:30

Class starts!

Patrick gave an introduction about the purpose of SWA and what are the upcoming programs for the new 2008.
After that he recounted what SWA has achieved for 2007.

He also outlined the various forms of learning & methodologies available to suit almost every watch-enthusiasts and collectors too.

Also mentioned since the inception of SWA, starting with a group of journalists, SWA has achieved a decent milestone of 3,000 registered members, most of them are from Singapore.  No exact figures disclosed.

This year what he hopes to have conduct factory tours to component manufacturers, starting with straps.

So the Malaysia PuristS was the FIRST group for this factory visit project, starting with a tannery.

Patrick then briefed what was the next activity for the afternoon.
As it was quite late already, Patrick suggested to move straight to the hands-on session with the Plastic Clock set.

Back to School Set.

In anticipation of the hands-on session was about to begin, Jaime was fast to check and prepare the sample clocks for demonstration and references for the group while they started to assemble the clock.

Headmaster signaled to proceed to the laboratory.

The bench setup with the Plastic Clock Set.

All parts were colour-coded to facilitate easy parts recognition.

Everyone's ready to start.

Headmaster Patrick mentioned the basic clock movement when shrunk down to many times... became the watch movement.
The basic concepts were the same.

To make it more fun and build up the energy (after the heavy lunch)...Patrick suggested a competition for the fastest assembler!
And the 3 winners would have a mystery-gifts!

Brillant! Suddenly everyone was moving.  Moving very fast....unpacking the parts....

Time : 14:45
The Game begins!!

Some read instructions....

Some were orderly....

Some were discussing.... or a bit lost...or shock...

Some were strange...what's Michelle peeping?

Deep in thoughts ...

Some copied!! Smart!

One worked smart....borrowed a working reference!

Men At Work

This man is in a very weird posture or position... hey see that watch he's wearing smile
