If you are thinking about the regular Superocean 42 or 44, they and the Aquaracer will both have either an ETA 2824 or Sellita 200. However, the Breitling will be within chronometer timing specs, the Tag will be +/- 2 minutes per week vs around +42/-28 seconds per week at the worst for a Chronometer. Both will come with a 2 year guarantee and have 38 hour power reserves. But the Tag will have a ceramic bezel and cyclops for better date legibility.

on the other hand, if you are thinking about the Superocean Heritage, which carries the Tudor movement, this is a nice internal step up with a 70 hour power reserve and 5 year guarantee and ceramic bezel. However, the only down side to the SOH is that there are no crown guards (for better or worse).

For just a casual watch for weekend wear which would be the preferred watch? TAG Aquaracer or Breitling Superocean? Rubber strap on both.

Hi Thomas. I cannot speak for the Tag but I have owned the Breitling for 10 years now.

It is reliable, takes a beating in all weather conditions and keeps great time. And looks great on the milanese strap! ...

Breitling would be my choice too .
