Even more I don’t understand those vintage extremists . Who knows what has been done to those watches over the years, and the owner has every right to do whatever he or she wants to do with, for, and to it. Of course, hundreds of years old museum pieces are different story as the treasure for all the mankind.
Julian, interesting idea . Could make a good movie where vintage collectors fell for the myth or something like that, with all due respect.
Disclaimer: I am a big fan of vintage (up to 40-50 years) and legendary MOVEMENTS (not the “patina” thing) and I like to wear it in good condition as my watch.

Auction companies often make mistakes. Often over-market. Are in cohorts with the media. To raise awareness of their auction house and to fool ignorant clients into bidding higher for lots than what they should be worth. Since so much of the world buying ...

that business model neither ever made sense or appealed to me. I am fortunate I guess to not really have a desire for any of the merchandise these people are selling. I don't think I will ever buy something from an auction house. Cheers, Filip
You're lucky Filip!

Auction houses constantly need a new incoming stream of clients. They actually call it a "churn" as the existing clients eventually wise up, get fed up, or reach saturation. There might even be a churn ratio that is measured in the marketing department at...

Brolex Shipmariners are some of the most unseaworthy creations. I once heard "Ashton Martin" in reference to Aston Martin.

But changing the hands to appeal to turn your Mark V watch into a "franken Mark 4.5 watch" just because Mark 4.5 watches are increasing in value is just a cheat. I know you're a big fan of HIGH QUALITY things before they got to become too popular and befo...

For the people who do that kind of stuff on a daily basis, the line has been crossed so many times that their base of morality has shifted. And while I may say their marketing invented a new term that doesn't exist and is a complete stretch, their marketi...

But in order to make an honest movie with all of those characters inside of it; filled with unscrupulous brokers and auction companies, that's how my version of the movie could look like. Maybe Mr. Koch would fund that film, he likes exposing the truth fo...
