Here’s my current three watch collection/rotation.

Dressy/smart: Nomos Orion Duo
Daily/all-arounder: Grand Seiko SBGX261
Weekend/took: Modded Seiko Turtle

I personalized them with after-market straps.

A custom Delugs brown lizard on the Nomos. Given when the watch was made and the vibes it gives me, I call it my modern vintage. I love that it’s a two-harder, but I can still set it to the minute. I have another Nomos, a Tangente Sport Index, but it has long been in need of service and is earmarked for my oldest niece after it comes back from the spa.

A Forstner beads of rice bracelet on the GS. The OEM bracelet is nicely made, but I could never get it to fit properly to my satisfaction. The beads of rice bracelet is both supremely comfortable and visually interesting. That I can grab and go with this high accuracy quartz continues to be a delight.

The Turtle mod is an SRPE93 with SKX173 dial and lollipop seconds hand, sapphire crystal, and 12 hour bezel to track very simply the time in my country of birth. Helped by the relatively short lugs and the cushion case, this one is the largest my 6.25” wrists can manage (some may say too big). The Erika’s Original Mirage and Royal Blue MN strap secures the chunky watch snugly to me. I like that the red lower text on the dial matches the red font for Sunday, while the blue in the strap similarly matches Saturday.

Not too bad for a relatively modest budget (watches plus straps). These will likely go to my other nieces and nephew. I can see myself picking up two additional watches for my wife and I - maybe a Cartier Tank and a JLC Reverso for our 50th bday/25th anniversary at the end of this decade. The plan is that these will go to our daughter and son.

You have most situations covered by these three. I like your idea of JLC or Cartier. You could also look at vintage Omega. There are some really high quality watches up for grabs at very fair prices. Just look at our moderator Art who is an expert in this...

Thank you and …

Thank you for the suggestion. There really are some lovely vintage pieces out there. I would have to educate myself before dipping my toes in that water.

Inspired to post by burnsey66’s SOTC post, but that would have been a mouthful! And it was inspiration regardless, so thank you! I once ran into a stranger at the mall about 8 or so years ago (based on the age of my children) who had on an orange dial Eme...

Good looking line up

You have all the bases covered

Trying to enjoy what I have.

Which is hard for some of us in this hobby who always have an eye towards what the next watch will be. What helps me is that I agree with you - for my lifestyle the bases are indeed covered.

Nicely done

Tank and Reverso are both awesome, which one will be for you? You might be able to share a tank and there are unisex options for the Reverso too.

Probably the JLC for me

I am originally from India (my wife is African American) and I find the history of the Reverso interesting. I was thinking Tank SolarBeat for my wife who would prefer quartz. I have slender wrists - hers might be a little bigger, so we could also swap if ...

Appreciate it!

I tend to prefer squared off markers instead of round ones. Of course, there are several watches I could make an exception for!
