Horological Meandering

I wonder….

Why we see more and more watches stolen from manufacturers’ boutiques. What can you do with such timepieces? Obviously these watches have serial numbers and will be spotted if ever returned for service, same if serial numbers appear tampered with. If broken down to metal and jewels their face value is somehow low, as any stolen goods there will always be people buying these watches knowingly. But in IMO, the only serious way to make money will be to sell them fraudulently on the internet market place. Could these be contracted robberies to feed the internet?

Cheers
