All watches do the same basic thing, tell time. We dont really need any of the fancy decorated stuff and crazy complications, but it is art and we appreciate that. It is a neat concept and as long as it holds up over time I personally think it is very inn...

You are correct. The watch is electro-mechanical. The torque required to rotate the pulleys and move the belts is high. This required individual electric motors to turn each of the single belt assemblies and a microcontroller to handle the complex algorit...

Thanks much! Yes, the watch uses a quartz crystal required by any electronic device that needs balanced timing. The micro controller operates the four individual motors and the optical recognition system.

There are several contenders here - Christophe Claret comes to mind as well. This one, however, is noe of the more refreshing and readable watches. It makes good use of the more vertically oriented display and reflects this also in the movement layouit. Q...

The tread 1 is accurate to about 8 seconds per year - with the help of a temperature adjusted crystal.

in order to make sure our first timepiece was solid through-and-through we insured the highest levels of accuracy possible - with the least amount of service required. So we have incorporated a high frequency crystal with thermo compensation.

Digital count method, with a thermistor providing corrections to the frequency given by the crystal, a la Seiko and ETA? Is there provision for owner adjustment via a digital adjustment port or somesuch?

The thermocompensation is accomplished via proprietary methods, so I can only say that the accuracy is increased through these methods. What i can tell you is that there is no need for owner adjustment as the optical recognition system keeps the belts in ...

The only way at this point to adjust for error is to reset the time manually...

Synchronize via computer,WWVB, or GPS?

Being asked one would think this creation is in competition to be a major component in the CPU on the next space shuttle.... Where do you draw the line...if there is one....I like accuracy as much as the next guy but this is a "Wrist Watch"...not an atomi...

i have already read about it in IW and was put off by the fact that its not mechanical. perhaps i should stop being anti quartz and like it for its design rather than be put off by whats running it. graham

The inelegance of the watch as a whole made me over look the fact its not a mechanical watch , as I would assume a mechanical watch with the same concept would have a price tag shooting to the sky. Faisal
