Horological Meandering

I met a friend and fellow watch geek for food today and asked me what I had on... showed him my Oceana which was rated to 5000M. He chuckled and underneath his sleeve pulled out his Sinn U50, also rated to 5000M. This can't be an everyday occurrence! To b...  

As a u50 owner and as someone who's been hunting for a nice hydro for a while it is very tempting. I just wish they had put a high accuracy quartz in it, that's my only gripe really.

Especially since they put one in the UX, which is just too big for me. Why not for the U50 as well, who knows.

Who takes a watch down 5,000m to see if it will handle the pressure? They might as well label it as 1 million meters because no one could ever test it.

There's no deep water used to submerse the watch, which is what the watch's face claims.

The thought of we watch-obsessed being proud of going out of our way to buy watches that are designed, built, and tested to ensure their survival in places we'll never get anywhere close to is humorous to me.
