Reminds me of an argument I had with more than one SA at several Patek ADs.
I wanted to buy the 7234 when it was released first in red gold, because it’s a much better fit for my wrist than the original “mens” version. But upon seeing it the case appeared yellow to me.
After several encounters with SAs in different dealers telling me it was the same as the mens watch I finally got someone to put the 7234 side by side with another rose gold Patek. They weren’t the same, as it turned out the 7234 was a different alloy than the mens watch and to me looked yellow (it wasn’t yellow, I think technically it was 4N versus the mens 5N).
So yes, there is a lot of variation. And the other factor also is the colour of the dial can influence how the case metal appears.
