Horological Meandering

Gold

I remember reading in an old book about equipment that was issued to CIA operatives, that they were occasionally issued solid gold watches (white gold or yellow I am not sure), that could be sold off link by link to get them through deployments in environments where they had no cash. Not too sure about what book it was though.

In regards to the giving of fakes, if it is a bribe, then I think it is okay to give a fake, unless you're trying to establish a long term relationship.

Often , I play golf with government and army officials that look admiringly at my clubs. When they make flattering comments about the clubs, they actually mean that they want a set. I'll just give them the set that I used to play, right there on the spot. Little do they know that I bought 5 complete sets when I was in Shenzhen last time, reject stock or fake I don't know (more likely the latter although touted as the former). In situations where the return on investment is not sure, I don't see why we can't try and finesse the situation. Admittedly however, it's a lot harder for the layman to determine the authenticity of clubs compared to watches.
