consistency with one's principles and convictions.
And no, I don't mean the watchmakers, but rather the consumer; enthusiast; aficionado; collector; whatever we want to call ourselves.
The cal. 2326 or 3126 is too small in the beefy Offshore, but the Lemania chronograph is okay in the PP 5070; or the upsized new models (ref. 5xxx from ref. 3xxx equivalents) from PP without commensurate upsizing in movement.
Dufour used the same movement for his 34mm Simplicity and 37mm Simplicity.
Of course I can imagine already the come backs -
"it's about proportion"
"it's not so egregious"
"there are exceptions to every rule."
Which goes back to one of my tenets - dogmatism (and bigotry and prejudice) tends to blind us. (comment NOT directed at anyone in particular, and NOT intended as an indictment!)
Cheers,
TM
(and please, dear readers - don't read anything into my examples more than what I intended - popular and widely understood specific examples.)
In answer to the specific question being asked?
I would PREFER movements that fit their cases, and vice versa.
The secret is to define "fit."
