Some horological history, a visit to the Zytglogge in Bern

Although we can hardly believe it today, having a clock was once so rare that it was a prestige object for a town to have a tower clock. And all the clocks were “repeaters” so that everyone in the town could hear the time struck on the bells to call then ...

BTW and maybe interesting for none Swiss members here: "Zytglogge" means Zyt=time | Glogge=bell ; So something like Time-Bell in Swiss-German... ;-) [nt]
