I am German, so for me Moritz Grossmann is a 6 hour drive. I spent about 5 hours there. I will post something in my own watchblog in the coming days and link my visit here.
I was surprised to see how modern the machines were, yet there are quite a few people spending a lot of time handfinishing watchparts. Alone the handset takes about 6 hours to polish and color over a heating device the old fashioned way.
Some wheels they showed me that take 3 hours each to polish and finish.
While I have visited Lange & Söhne 2 years ago, I must say that I was striken how much handfinishing Grossmann does. The anglage at Lange is impressive. I think that Grossmann is working on the same level as Lange though.
I am organizing a group of watchcollectors to visit Grossmann in April. I will report afterwards.
