it isn't a luxury/non-luxury product/service question. It is a people question. A global people question. Primarily stemming from a lack of education because physical sales jobs usually don't require higher education regardless of their geographical locat...

I mainly enter into luxury shops as a “normal” person (jeans, sneakers...) and I never heard something like that. Maybe these salespersons should keep in mind that the clothes don’t make the man even if they think the opposite. Best wishes Alkiro

I have always been treadted with respect whether by a patek dealer or journe. or any one else. I think maybe you just had some bad apples or they were trying to be funny?

... Increasingly there is a lot a bitterness brewing amongst the younger generation due to the increasing wealth gap. It is most apparent during the sales experience as most are on commissions and have to push sales to meet goals. AFAIK, everyone sizes yo... 

Effort has to come on both sides - think of it this way if you have so much money that you don't care should they. There is always someone with more money around the corner. If Patek wants to sell 5711/1A at 60k they will still find a waiting list.
