After much thought over the past couple weeks, my new acquisition...
...Stainless J*D Astrale with retrograde date.

I've wanted a simple, stainless dress watch that would be both modern and traditional and I've been intrigued with Jaquet Droz since the day I discovered the brand a few years ago, but had never seen one in person.
I hadn't been able to decide which model I would most enjoy, even after a fair amount of internet searching, until I came across this retrograde model. The date is so subtly displayed that it almost doesn't appear to be a date at all. I found this very appealing. My initial concern when looking only at Google images was that I was unsure I would like that the date is shown using a small diamond marker...I'm not a diamond fan. However, in person the diamond is so small that it's hardly noticeable as a diamond and in fact it has just enough 'sparkle' to highlight the date just right.
After handling it in person and trying it on, this watch turned out to be so much more impressive than I expected.

Jaquet Droz offers a good deal of fun in many underrated packages. This is an ideal application of a diamond in a man's watch, so no concerns there. It's subtle and thoughtful like the Patek platinum diamond or the occasional use of a diamond cap stone on...

We don't see J*D's on this site much anymore these days, so glad to see someone get one. I've actually been wearing my J*D SW for the past 2 weeks too. My daughter calls it my snowman watch Cheers, Anthony
