a Puristspro-GTG in the Dutch town - Oldenzaal !

Jul 30, 2022,21:18 PM

it is always a great pleasure to meet fellow purists...

what else could be a better way to spend a Friday - when the GTG is along with a visit to an independent watchmaker(s) ?!

Friday morning starts with an amazing collection of watches from 3 fellow collectors....

Logical one - undeniably beautiful timepiece...using the fuse and chain mechanism is very gratifying - a grail.

Lange Doublesplit is another level, the heft of platinum and the precise fell while actuating the rattrapante - a pleasure !

an underrated reference from Breguet, the different guilloche on the dial - IMHO one of the best references from Breguet...period !

another grail for many...the AkriviA AK-06, might not be to the taste of all - nevertheless a very original expression of a watchmaker !

CC1 in the black enamel...a very pleasant one !

mandatory Table shot !

This Lang & Heyne movement is mind-blowing...divine !

visiting Gronefeld brothers is a great experience...why do I say that ?!

It is not just about the wonderful complications what Bart and Tim create as watch makers...

it is their values that shows up in actions,

  • Building where you belong - Two brothers from a small Dutch town of Oldenzaal went on to learn watch making, after decades they return back to the home town to start their very own brand !
  • Keep family traditions going - The watch repair shop was started by the grandfather and then managed by the family.  Bart & Tim still maintain the Tower clock of in the town that was build by their grand father and maintained by their father !!
  • Going back to where it all started - their new atelier is the very same building that used to be the school where the brothers studied - they see it as the place that started everything for them !!!
pic of Bart & Tim...with their parents...

the new Gronefeld atelier...in the centre of the town !

inside the atelier...

personal watch of Tim, the 10 years anniversary 1 Hz timepiece. The movement is impressive !

naturally they had few watches that are getting ready for shipment to customers...

1941 Principia...this dial is stunning - vibrant & flamboyant I would say.

the Tantalum Gronograaf, if I say the movement is impressive, it would be a gross understatement...

I didn't add pics of our fellow purists considering their privacy...that is my son looking at the finishing of movement components !

Hope we'll have many more GTGs further this year.

Best,
mahesh.,

not just CC but some other grails too - example the Lange & Hayne or R.Gauthier were stunning. I don't have the buckshot in my phone, let me try to get it from others.

personally I liked all but my Top 5 would be, 1) Lang&Heyne 2) R.Gauthier, 3) Omega CK859, 4) 1Hertz Anniversary, 5) AK06

You like the Gauthier so much you chose it TWICE 🀣😜...but putting the L&H Albert OVER the L1 is a BIG stretch my friend. I love the Albert but as a total package and judging it on it's own merits, I would have to politely disagree πŸ˜‰πŸ™
