... calibre 1498 was produced between 1998 and 2003 and was superseded by the Cal. 1403 with dead second display in 2003. The dead second tourbillon won best men's watch at the Geneva watch exhibition in 2004. So ten years this year. I agree with you, the... 

This one is a 2001 watch, which may place it late in the third-generation series -- not that it matters, as I love the watch! Best, Gary

This is a "third gen" piece, as indicated by the larger screws holding down the dial, the gilt/champagne color of the WG dial, and the silvery (rather than white) hours/minutes subdial. I'm not extremely deep in FPJ lore but I am told that the gen 3 WG di...

It's a wonderful piece. Platinum case and white gold dial is beautiful and versatile. 38mm Journe's just sit on the wrist perfectly. And the sound of the watch is still something special to me. If it wasn't for that quirky dead second display, yours would...

with so much 'going on' on the dial. Gary, with your experience and exposure to any kind of high end watches - from regular production watches over small brands/makers to commissioned pieces - how do you feel about this particular watch? I am really curio... 

...to which I will certainly return later with a comprehensive set of wearing impressions. For now I will only say that the Journe seems a quite agreeable middle ground between the ultra-low production specialist pieces (which can have their quirks!) and ...
