38mm feels so good...
Oct 06, 2019,00:53 AM
The sixth of each month seems to be a good idea to give this marvel from the past some exposure... And again I wonder how this nice amalgam of sportiness and style could be so left behind? It can’t be the size (38mm), which at least for me is just right for a watch with bracelet (which tend to wear larger anyway).
In the nineties, when I owned several Blancpains, I used to think of the Leman Flyback Chrono as something like a “Super Rolex”: high quality Piguet caliber, outstanding design and dial legibility and (at that time) the best bracelet on the market. Personally I don’t like watches with a bezel so this lean chrono appealed and still appeals a lot to me.
The market speaks a different language though. Blancpain from that era a poorly valued, you might say extremely underrated. A revival is not in sight. People’s tastes did change. It’s a XXL-world. Even FPJ cased his new Tourbillon in 42mm...
But still 38mm feels so good with this one...
Cheers
Uri

One of my favourite BPs. 38 mm, perfect for your wrist, and as you said, one of the best bracelets. Best regards Stephan

I share your sentiment ref size. I’ve got a Villeret GMT which is 39 mm and that’s ever so comfortable Not to say that my Babyscaphe is uncomfortable at 43 mm but that’s a sports diving watch I wear when I go to the beach etc. For normal daily office wear...
Beautiful Flyback.

I owned one exactly like yours for a few years, I liked it very much, however, there were a couple of issues that kept me from wearing it, so I finally had to let it go. I could have lived with the sharp edges of the crown that really hurt my hand, to the...
