Your Watch Quota? If any?

 By: Mech : November 7th, 2009-15:58
Hi I'm not sure anyone of you are like me, trying hard but in vain to maintain the number of pieces in our collection (meaning also wearing them). My reason is simple as I like to wear my pieces as often as I can so I get to spend max quality wrist time w...

Very strict...

At any given time the quota - never to be exceeded - is "current collection, plus one". ;-) Cheers, pplater.

+/- five dress and four weekend . . . quality over quantity . . .

 By: Craig LA : November 7th, 2009-16:26
I endeavor to wear my watches often. Preferably, I wear my dress/work watches once a week, and my weekend watches every other week. Anything less and I am hard pressed to justify the amount of capital tied up in the piece. When I previously owned a greate...

There is a quota, and then there are the "extras."

 By: mkvc : November 7th, 2009-17:31
I would probably do best with about ten watches. However, I have many more. My tastes seem to change, so even when I have a watch that does not get much wear I tend to hold on to it in case I once again get interested in wearing it.

Well, my self-serving rationale

 By: ArthurSG : November 7th, 2009-20:23
is to have 3 good pieces to hand down to each of my children. Its a noble reason for me to divert my resources.

A golden rule

All the watches which add something to my collection. Another golden rule: My Banker. So, 1 and 2 are my watch quota. Best, Nicolas

As a collector of (primarily) vintage watches...

my limit is one fewer watch than the point at which the words "invested" or "capital" need to be considered in connection with my collection. Ginger This message has been edited by Ginger on 2009-11-08 07:57:15

It would be nice to enforce one, but it does not work...

Finances is the usual limiting factor.

Out of control!

I liked your post. I thought I was the only guy who felt guilty for not wearing the watches I own. I try to wear to at least occasionally all of mine but it does get to be a bit of a problem. My guess is that I own around 45 watches as follows: Panerai (6...

as long as they fit into my current theme(s) then there is no limit. i've been as high as about 300 and as low as 12. i'm currently on 45 with 1 going out and 3 coming in shortly so that will make 47 before i start looking or saving for my next one. i mus...

I've wanted to trim down to 3 but can't

 By: AnthonyTsai : November 9th, 2009-19:48
I think 5 is feasible for me though. Only problem is it's difficult to keep firm with my quota, and it doesn't help that selling a watch is a pain in the behind Cheers, Anthony This message has been edited by AnthonyTsai on 2009-11-10 09:09:22
