Question- water-resistance of casebacks
hi all,
i have a question regarding WR level of watches when different casebacks are used and would be grateful if anyone could help me with some info/ opinion.
all things being equal, is the WR level better if a watch has a closed caseback?
i see that the WR level on the Panerais (let say the 44mm luminors) are identical, be it display or closed (both rated at 300m). i am always under the impression that a closed back would and should do a better job with keeping the water out but then again what do i know about case-making....=)
if it is indifferent then why is rolex not using display casebacks?
i hope my question is clear and hope to gain some insight.
thanks again
