Thanks much! Yes, the watch uses a quartz crystal required by any electronic device that needs balanced timing. The micro controller operates the four individual motors and the optical recognition system.

There are several contenders here - Christophe Claret comes to mind as well. This one, however, is noe of the more refreshing and readable watches. It makes good use of the more vertically oriented display and reflects this also in the movement layouit. Q...

The tread 1 is accurate to about 8 seconds per year - with the help of a temperature adjusted crystal.
You are using a type of Thermocompensation and/or
a higher frequency than 32KHz with a thermally less sensitive cut?
We are using both
in order to make sure our first timepiece was solid through-and-through we insured the highest levels of accuracy possible - with the least amount of service required. So we have incorporated a high frequency crystal with thermo compensation.
How is the thermocompensation accomplished?
Digital count method, with a thermistor providing corrections to the frequency given by the crystal, a la Seiko and ETA? Is there provision for owner adjustment via a digital adjustment port or somesuch?

i have already read about it in IW and was put off by the fact that its not mechanical. perhaps i should stop being anti quartz and like it for its design rather than be put off by whats running it. graham

The inelegance of the watch as a whole made me over look the fact its not a mechanical watch , as I would assume a mechanical watch with the same concept would have a price tag shooting to the sky. Faisal
