In Regard to Winders and Boxes
Jul 27, 2019,05:36 AM
I keep all my watches that are not on a winder in a home safe. I live in a highrise so no worries about thieves.
I have several travel cases depending on how many watches I'm taking (2,4 and 10).
I do keep a few pieces on a winder, however, only those that are difficult to set. I have a vintage AP PC and a Vintage auto PP with date (non-quick). The PP is the reason for the winder. As a way to speed up the process of setting the date, I would run the crown down my leg instead of turn the crown by hand. Long story short, I SCREWED UP THE MOVEMENT. $2500 of service and $550 for a winder and my PP keeps perfect time, and resides on a winder.
Those watches that have a quick set feature mostly reside in the safe and I can set them in under 30 seconds.

on the fancy display box plan. And while leaving them at a bank is very secure they are out of reach... difficult to access, which is why I look for compact but safe (from damage) ways to fit into my not huge but bolted down safe at home. Not as safe as t...

If you have a secure location to keep it, Underwood makes a sturdy, handsome, black or brown leather 10-watch box large enough for oversized watches. I like that the watches sit far enough apart that there is no risk of metal-to-metal collisions within th...

As for watch boxes, I use Underwood and Giobagnara (please google for them) leather boxes. They are very elegant and durable. Sam

...as others have said, they’re a waste of money, and I like setting my watch when I haven’t worn it in a while. On the topic of boxes, I’ve outgrown the cheap box I got from Amazon, and I want something that I can pickup and move easily and even lock awa...
