In Memoriam HR Giger
HR Giger (5 February 1940 - 12 May 2014), who won an Oscar for his work on ALIEN, deserves to be counted amongst the greatest of all Swiss artists. This truly one-of-a-kind timepiece was the last project on which he collaborated with Daniel Strom (swiss watchmaker and artist). Its case features heads and skull parts taken from Giger's human/machine figure BIOMECHANOID, while the dial forms a spectacular relief in silver that is modelled after one of the artist's most famous works. This wirstwatch wields a primeval, hypnotic power that is fully unleashed when viewed up close and has a unique feel that makes you want to grasp it and touch it again and again in new exciting ways.

Wonderful watch! I'll look it up, it's very interesting. I have to admit, Giger was a major influencer of my own art back when I was actively drawing and painting. Today my studio is more for relaxing than painting, something I should change.
Here's one I did back in '82 and another from '91, so it was a long-lasting influence. There were many more in between but they're all somewhere in storage now. ...
Lol. Thanks. I don't really understand it either. The models in the first one were my girlfriend and one of the account executives at the ad agency my girlfriend and I worked at at the time.
It was a marker sketch for an oil painting I never got around to. The second is an unfinished oil painting that I just decided was "done enough" as-is because I got tired of painting it.
I was a graphic design/art direction major in college...
...and I had also take a lot of drawing and illustration classes. There were essentially two tracks: design or illustration. I was a decent artist then, but when people showed their work to the class I knew I was not going to make it as an illustrator : )...
