If the Lange had a date

Apr 29, 2010,15:43 PM

I would say no - I personally think GO does a far better job of the big date.  But since the RL does not have a date, I would make this change.  The RL is probably the model from Lange that I like the most.

As was noted, if the watch to go was the GO Chronometer, it would be a different story for me.

Cheers, Al

I'm Thinking About a (Controversial) Trade -- Please chime-in, GO And ALS Fans!

Hi All I am thinking about making a rather controversial trade in the "dress watch" area of my small collection (currently 4 watches). It would involve a payment of some amount of $$ by me (as you will understand), but that's not the point of this posting...

Even if I'm a big G.O fan, I would do it.

The RL is one of the nicest Chronometer I know. A kind of " Chronometre Royal " of the modern Times. The comparison would be much harder between the G.O Chronometer and the RL, though. Best, Nicolas

What Nico said.

For me it depends on the model and vis-a-vis these 2 models, I would do it.

Damn, db... I said it was a tough decision... :)

Really tough choice, my friend. To me, both of them are very close. The Lange is a classic, a REFERENCE, for this kind of watches. But the G.O is a superb competitor, with a nice and interesting movement, both of the Lange and the G.O having their own DNA...

Tough call, DB . . .

. . . which ultimately comes down to whether the artistic merit of the Lange - and that's what I consider superlative finishing to be, namely, art - is sufficiently compelling to part with a watch that evinces an exceedingly high level of refinement both ...

I would do it.

The difference in prices means that there is probably not much difference in objective "value for the money." However, for me, the Lange is much more appealing aesthetically.

I would ...

... do it in a heartbeat.

absolutely, I would do that without hesitation

I love the RL and I never got into the non-round GOs much, as much as I admire the brand in general. Best Andreas

yes...

I already own one!!!

IHMO, then go for the RL !!

Go For the RL!

Works better as a dress watch and more versatile. As nice as the GO is, I would do the trade in a second. BTW, I like both the yellow gold and rose gold RL for different reasons but either one would get my vote! Good luck.

Yes, without hesitation!

Not controverial at all IMO

The Lange is one of my all time fav. There would be no question / hesitation as far as I am concerned. It is an amazing, classic, and stunning watch. I hope to own one one day.

I prefer the Lange to the GO...

I prefer a round watch to a comparable squarish one any day.

I am in the minority, but I prefer the GO

While I know the Richard Lange is a beautiful watch and impeccably finished, I think the tank style GOs are quite unique and attractive in their own right. I also like the orientation of the big date on the dial. In terms of the Lange, I have looked at th...

Do you wear the GO often? If not and the attraction of obtaining a new piece is part of the fun, then that adds some merit Is it a reasonable deal... regardless if you can afford it, I personally still like a deal to feel "comfortable" for peace of mind H...

I would definitely do the trade.....

The RL is better IMHO...... James

Personally, I would get the RL.

This is definitely a watch I desire to acquire one day, with or without a trade in. Regards, Richard.

I would go for the Lange. (nt)

I liked the RL more than the GO! That´s the pivotal issue IMO. The two watches - although both being golden dress watches - have very different characters, shapes and even functions (chronometer versus big date). So you should prefer one watch over t...

I would choice the RL. Apart from the heritage of the RL I much more prefer the shape and design of the case and dial. Only one thing would make it better for me.....................Replace th Roman Numerals with Arabic or Breguet numbers.

Yes, I would do this trade

 By: Timertom : April 30th, 2010-06:37
I much prefer the simple and more classic lines of the Richard Lange, which has always been my fav watch from this company. Go for it if you can.

I would also....

do the trade..... I respect and admire GO but between these two watches, the Lange is the winner.... please let us know what you decide.... cheers
