Horological Meandering

How many collector friends think about what to wear in the coming days/week? As I rotate most, if not all of the watches, I usually spend a weekend thinking the group for next week. Some newer ones will be rotated more frequently just to check for any iss...  

I can have quite a few possibilities and probabilities.

Clearly you will look forward to every single day of the week coming in order to rotate and where everyone of these wonderful five choices!

I saw that all of the watches are set to the right time. Do you use winders for your watches? Have a nice Sunday afternoon and evening!

As I bring them out, I set the time so they are ready to be worn. Once I read, putting on winder is like letting car running idle, may not be good, plus I don’t have any Perpetual calendars so probably no need for winder?

I totally understand and agree that it is fun and enjoyable to wind the watches by hands. I like power reserve indicators for this reason. Do you wear one watch per day, or wear different ones during the day? Cheers!

Start to prepare in the evening the watch to wear the next day is a great tip. The morning is usually quite hectic and there is no time to think carefully which watch to wear. It is great to get it ready the previous night 👍👍

I like to check time when i attend a call of nature during night. Just don't want to miss fun. BTW yours' is an exemplary collection. 🙌

I’m too afraid to knock or hit the night stand or my “boss”, lol… I have an alarm table clock close by for the purpose of reading time or morning alarm. Thanks for your nice comment.

The 5196P is an instant classic, but I’m now wandering between this or the 5565A?

The 5196 is more attractive to me. Just something about that design, the lines of the case, the breguet numerals, it’s just so good. But the 5565 is also beautifully designed. I see nothing wrong with it. It’s just down to what your heart wants at the end... 

One limited to 300pcs and in SS while the other is also rare in Pt, with a diamond and the Breguet numerals….if only the 5196P aren’t staying this long in the catalog. I think I’ll still stick to it.

It is not a mass produced watch in this noble metal.

I have a full rotation schedule, on paper, that I stick to. It means a different watch every day until I'm through the lot. Then start over - who says life is boring ?

Just random feelings at the moment and see which one connects or sometimes it’s the date that coincides to the ah-ha moments. Totally, life has been great.

Not to discourage savings for rainy days or not passing on to next gen, but I also want to enjoy while I still can walk, eat, jump....not when I'm on walker or wheelchair.

Have you already assigned each watch to a particular day, or do you decide the morning of?

The decision is usually the morning of, sometimes also checking weather if I should wear bracelet or leather strap.

Having 4 brands mix and match provides a good variety that makes a new feeling each week.

A combination of colors, complications, case materials, manufacturers. I have a smaller collection of not-so-heavy-hitters, and I find it hard to keep them all running so that I can pick them up on any day and wear to work. It used to be mainly automatics... 

Hence for Lange pieces, I don’t prefer the earlier generations with “only” 36hr. I also wish some PPs can be better with min 35-45hr.

This will be a great horological week !!

I will pick aprox 5 watches for a period of about 4 weeks . Like your great selection I always pick watches for the occasion (sport,dress,casual etc)

I’m just too antsy, lol….wanted to reconnect with my watches more often. Unfortunately with the pandemic still lingering…some watches don’t have much opportunity to go to watch events like we used to meet. I just wind them, wear them briefly or to work. ... 

To much of a struggle to do it every week tbh . To scared to have more watches in the same place at ones tbh, i also have a Boss with the same hobby so otherwise we will have to much at home
