Great post, Happy New Year
2022 was a particularly hard year for me.
In that year, I questioned myself a lot, and was broken, to be refixed.
These 3 watches accompanied me most:
I took a year off studies, because of an daunting incident where i whistleblowed a case of medical fraud/corruption. Someone took revenge on me later.
To support myself, I worked in landscaping 5 days a week. This watch accompanied me, through the hardships of cutting large trees, challenging terrain, sweat and blood.
I don’t regret what I did because I saved the government a lot of money meant for Aboriginal healthcare. I paid the price for it and took the fall.
My old trusty Blancpain FF Bathyscaphe which I love the most. I gave it away to my dad-in-law as a peace offering. I had failed him in 2021 resulting in my hardships in 2022. I wore this almost daily. I gave it away to remind myself, I have to give away the thing i treasure the most as a price to pay for my failure to keep my mouth shut even if it means turning a blind eye to dishonest doctors in the healthcare system. I couldn’t do that.
And then I recalled a time when I helped a friend pay for his costly legal fees, in the 4 zeros range, when he was bleeding from it. I got my money back for secretly helping him, in his hard times. He survived. I took the funds and bought this for myself to remind myself what I am made of.
