Finally completed my Trinity
It took some time to come to this, but I think I have at long last completed my Trinity. Acquired in the order below, starting with my birth year watch (back in early 2022) and to my latest NWA today:
1) VC 43031 (1984)
2) PP 3940J (1997)
3) AP 5043 (196x)
Naturally, with two QPs already, there was a tiny itch to perhaps "complete" the trio with an equivalent AP QP from a similar time period. But then, I had to dig really deep: was it a need, or a want? Isn't 2 QPs already a little too excessive? I mean, I truly don't yet enjoy having to take 10 mins from a busy day to set the calendars properly before strapping the watch on. And from this, what was missing? Perhaps something I could wear more often, that was easy to set the time and go?
Believe it or not, the actual AHA! moment came to me in a k-pop music video. That's really another rabbit-hole story for another day...
Ask me 5 years ago and I'm certain I would never have considered any watches 36mm or less. But post Covid era, I met a great bunch of people whom I call friends today, who helped opened my mind to more experience, explore more avenues, contemplate the meaning of value, and to really ponder what makes me tick. Through these people, I have evolved (as people continuously do). And that's okay.
Now, to properly enjoy my Trinity:

Was the initial intention to get a representative vintage PC from each of the trinity brands? An AP perpetual would have also been nice given their rich history, but I totally understand your thinking and ultimate choice.
