My worst nightmare...
Comes my way at a good price, a lovely Eterna Madison, with the even lovelier caliber 3501. 
That was Saturday. Sunday, I was rearranging stuff on my dresser, and it slipped off the edge. No problem, right? Carpeted floor, soft surfaces. Nope, it found the corner of a lower part of the dresser, and I knew from the sound it was bad. 
It’s on its way to Time Innovations in New York. Suddenly my good deal isn’t any more. (The tape is there to keep the pieces in place—probably a waste of time.)
Time of possession before damage: 23 hours.
Sigh.
