Thank you for your reply, and for posting pictures of your Grand Seiko watches.

As you say, there is indeed a clear aesthetic lineage between the old and new GS models. This is one of the reasons why I like the SBGW001 - it enjoys the benefits of modern watchmaking, but also remains true to its classic styling roots. Of course there is still something special about a genuine vintage watch, so perhaps I will investigate some early Grand and King Seikos watches. However, I'm not sure if I'm keen about the thick lugs just yet. Perhaps it is an acquired taste.
