Thank you for commenting on the improvement. The slight difference in quality you noticed between the basic and Flash/HTML5 uploaders only occurs if the original image is considerably larger than our largest stored image size (its longest dimension more than about twice our upper limit of 1280 pixels), and if the original image has a lot of important fine detail.
This slight decrease in quality will disappear if you can first resize your images before uploading them with the Flash/HTML5 uploader. This can be done using a program like Photoshop, iPhoto, Aperture, or Paint Shop Pro to resize your original images so that their longest dimension is 1280px
before using the uploader. This will also be much faster than using the basic uploader, which can be quite slow with large images.
