I had not noticed this thread before but some thoughts

The main reason to establish where the user is posting from is exactly the opposite of what you may think. It is do so that people cannot fraudulent pretend to be in one place when really they are in another especially sellers in the Collectors market.

My hope is that no one that is so close to you as to know your home that they would choose such a method to see when you are not home. Most people are away most of the day so they would be vulnerable just by going to work.

We live in an imperfect world and the fraudsters are everywhere and there is nothing one can do to stop them. This is just one little barrier which means they need to take extra steps if they what to hide their location and fraud people so maybe they will go somewhere else that is not verifying where they are posting from.

From my own experience also the community members always signal if they smell a rat and that is always very good.
