Excellent choice and welcome to the forum.
I wouldn't worry about being recognized by true connoisseurs, and I definitely wouldn't buy a watch for such a reason. True connoisseurs are identified by their knowledge and passion for timepieces, the history, the manufacturing process, and the industry behind it. Not for what they wear on their wrists.
As for your clicking sound, I cannot tell without actually hearing it if something is serious, but I doubt there is any issue.
