Hi Riley,
in my opinion, the GO Senator Meissen is a fascinating watch.
Why? It's difficult to explain. But I think it's the contrast between the movement that is a product of very, very precise and skillful horology and the dial that is a result of artful manual work. In other words: mechanical high-technology meets creativity! Although the porcelain dial looks perfect and nearly machine-made when you view it with the naked eye, you will notice immediately the uniqueness if you view it through the loupe: there is no doubt that the paintings - even the Roman numerals and the tiny writing "Original" - are a hundred per cent result of manual work. It's really enchanting, and it reminds me of an old pocket watch.
Martina and I own only one watch with a Meissen porcelain dial - the GO Senator Meissen. But we love most of the other GO Meissen dials as well, especially the dials that show "Chinese decors" (dragons etc.). Unfortunately, they are very hard to find, because there are very, very small numbers of pieces (limitied editions of 100, 50 or even 25 pieces!). As far as I know, besides that, there wasn't any Meissen dial made on client order.
The last series that were made before the GO Senator Meissen were
You can view these watches on the GO homepage (by clicking on "NEWS"), but, I fear, these watches are already sold out.
We hope that Glashütte Original and Meissen will continue their co-operation in creating new limited editions of watches with porcelain dials. Due to the small number of pieces, such watches will not be part of big advertising campaigns. So, it could be worthwile to watch the "News" pages on the GO website.
Cordially
