I do agree that this has arisen due to the new movement. I guess with many other brands (not just in watches), when something new is released, you will never see the old versions at all (Cars, TVs, Microwaves!!) - they are either moved into dealer networks, recycled, but you won't see them in the showrooms.
I have to check the pricing, but are Cal 36 and Cal 100 pieces priced the same in the boutiques? If I gave a real life example: I really like the dial on the Senator Panorama Date (with roman numerals) and all things being equal, I would go for this version. But I know this version is now an outdated movement, so engine wise, the Senator Excellence Panorama Date is a better piece, I like the blue sunburst dial, but don't like the index markers! As a buyer, it just sows more confusion in my decision, and in the end, I get neither of them!
Options are always good, but when they look so close to each other, too many options can be a bad thing!!
Thanks for your input Martin.
