I realise I hadn't contributed any pictures here in some months! I thought I would post some pictures of the Panograph I've taken over this time. I used the focus stacking method of combining several pictures to achieve this deep focus view of the entire ...  

How many did you needed? Last I did mine, I needed as many as 50... How many variants of the panograph dial are there? The ones I usually see have the dots for the minute totaliser... Regards, skyeriding

I used only 16 pictures, focus on each was quite shallow as I used a Zeiss 100mm f/2 makro planar at around f/5.6 I think. The lens does not provide exif data to my Fuji camera being mounted on an adapter so I'm not sure. I definitely needed more frames o... 

Don't publicly mention the defects from the focus stack; no one will realise and just let them stare in awe! I jest of course, but personally I have lots of trouble when focus stacking; especially for complex shapes like the hairspring and alignment issue... 

... I am considering getting a rail. I racked focus manually for these which didn't help but the Zeiss is manual focus with a well damped ring and about 300 degrees of throw so it wasn't too bad.

I can't do that on mine as I don't feel the precision (a Nikon Micro 85mm DX); so I'm using a budget focus rail at the moment. There are some articles about the differences between both methods, but I didn't delve too deep into it...for the lens I'm using...

Great shot! I downloaded the full size picture and was severely impressed about its quality. I have so much to learn. Amazing how different cal. 61 is from cal. 37 (the current automatic chronograph movement) in concept and execution. Best, Martin

... you just need patience to ensure you take enough frames. re. cal 37 it is quite interesting to contrast it against the cal 61. I personally prefer beautiful finishing over technical improvements at a certain price point and so I find the gold cased ca...
