Considering Marcus' comments above, I might suggest

 

that if you really like this watch the most economic course would probably be to search around
for one in much better condition, a watch which should need no more than a routine cleaning and lubrication.
Of course the relative joys of restoration versus shopping are a personal
decision.


My GUB is a Cal. 70 from the mid-late 1960s, and is somewhat distinguished by the screwed balance.
While otherwise the watch is not of notably high quality, I happen to also like the look
(so does someone else in Glashutte apparently, they have just released
a new watch with stikingly similar design).
