Girard Perregaux

Thanks Alkiro, the movement size

we had discussed a few times before. There are arguments for either direction. Keeping the movements small retains the skills and craftsmanship of the watchmakers. I also think a very large automatic movement would not be visually pleasing either (exceptions of course exists, esp with micro-rotors). On the ww.tc the size of the movement has no negative impact on the dial design, as the subdials are well placed and the position of the date is not dictated by movement size but by the world-time complication. The easiest solution would be a solid case-back but apparently 95% of buyers want a see-through case back. I think we also should appreciate that a true manufacture with all in-house movements cannot maintain a huge amount of calibers at the same time to suit every size. Regardless, I think there is a case though in general for an upgrade of the good old 3300 caliber to keep with the competition.
Best,
