Hi Terence,
a warm welcome on the GP Forum!
Personally, i like the 9012 a lot (and i think it?s a pity they don?t do them any more).
The movement is based on a Valjoux 7750, with an added split-second mechanism. It does not come with a column wheel (to my best knowledge) and while i can?t share a picture, i?d say the finish is comparable to all pieces of the Sports Classique or Classique Elegance lines.
What i like most are three details:
First, the unusual case shape. It?s different from almost all others and i think it?s very nicely done.
Second, the dial and hands. That?s quite an appealing design.
Third, the co-axial pusher (inside the crown). That?s unusual and requires some work to do it that way, when most split-second movements still have a pusher at 8 or 10 position.
So over all, it?s a very nice watch and the mixture of case and pusher design, movement function and dial/hands makes quite an unusual piece.
It is not a Haute Horlogerie piece like the 90200 Foudroyante or the 90170 split-second chronograph, but it is a very well made watch by all means.
Nonetheless: If you don?t appreciate the function or the shape or, as with probably any watch, it does not "speak" to you, it?s probably not a keeper for you.
That may be the same with any other piece by GP, Panerai or any other maker; i think a watch should be interesting and bring you pleasure. If it fails to do so, even the most unusual or well-crafted piece is not the one for you.
Other than that, it?s certainly a very good choice and a great addition to the PAM!
Greetings from germany,
Peter
