I’m always a little suspicious about Tiffany stamped dials, but I’ll take this one as it is. A good friend who is an expert in this area is convinced the stamp is legitimate.
Movement confirmed to be one of the batch of 662 that were submitted to the 1967 Neuchâtel competition. Quite how many of those ended up getting branded as Observatory Chronometers I believe is unknown - but I doubt very much it is just 40, as is often claimed.
What was a lovely surprise when I finally got to see this watch in person was the sunburst finish to the dial that is centered at 6 o’clock. I have many vintage Grand Seikos with sunburst finishes but they are always centered at the middle of the watch.

Finally got it home and put it in front of the proper camera and under the lights. No movement shots yet, but I can tell you it is from batch 567, and based on the information in the database, it came roughly halfway down the 662 movements submitted in 1...
