Laureato ref 81000 41 mm

Friends,

Some shots of the novelty release at SIHH 2016 of the 225th year anniversary Laureato ref 81000. 225 pieces in blue dial and 225 pieces in silver dial. Both are beautiful and MSRP was about USD 14,000/- before tax.

In 2017, GP would add the Laureato back to the catalog but in 42 mm and thicker at 11 + mm.

The dial size of the 41 mm is the same as the 42 mm but the case is smaller and thinner (10 mm … same thickness as the 38 mm).

Does 1 mm make a difference? As someone who has the 42 mm AND the 41 mm, I will give a resounding YES, it does.

IMHO, if you can find a 41 mm in good condition, this is a good one for the collection.

For those that are yet to get a Laureato, this is an opportunity to “leapfrog” and get something “extra special”. I got my 42 mm because I thought I would never be able to find a 41 mm. There were zero on the market when it last sold, they traded at close to USD 21,000. This was the frothy market of 2022. So now that prices have all come down, I would have loved to buy a 41 mm today’s prices (but I already have it). ☺️

I can tell you that when I got my 41 mm, folks at GP themselves congratulated me to say oh wow, this is an extra special one.

So all those folks that know better than me and the folks that work at GP, go ahead and ignore the 41 mm.

For those that think I may know a thing or two, look for a 41 mm. And remember, there are numerous things about the 41 mm that are different from the 42 mm. A quick example is that there is no visible screw hole on the first link for the 41 mm. Many other differences … ask in the comments if you would like to know.

The ADs that do bundling and other such brand destructive games with the 42 mm can not touch the 41 mm because they are all sold out. Thank goodness for that.

That was the birth of the modern Laureato.

Unfortunately I have never seen and handled one in person.

Yes, the father to Gen 5 … the current generation

Laureato has been on my list for some time, price now is getting rational. I feel 42mm is a bit big and I like Onyx dial, but only available in 42mm. How about 38mm? would it be too small?

Fair question …

The 38 mm is a “good size” as well. It really depends on your wrist size. I wear 36,38,40,41 and 42 mm laureatos on my 18 cm wrist. What’s your wrist size? 🤝

Thanks Jesse 🤝

Did they ever make one without a date that has the same clean look and is not skeletonized or a tourbillon?

Nice question … date window … the answer is …

Laureato Generation 2 quartz circa 1984 yes. Evo3 (which was generation 4) yes. For non laureato, then yes, there were a few. For example, ref 2499 🤝 ...
