Its a rose gold version, they also produced yellow and white gold variants.
Like many GP models then, it was a low production piece. The hands are in rose gold too. I think the numerals and subdial hands are likely gold plated. Has a display caseback with a GP movement 3100 plus Dubios-Dubraz module, that was used in the laureato chronograph olimpico. I believe your 4946 is 38m. Its using the same movement.

Lovely eBay purchase. 3mm taper and soft punched leather. But what a pain to change. Lug holes very close to the case and only curved spring bars will work. But, it was worth the effort! ...

That really is a stunning looking Girard-Perregaux 4946 Chronograph.
I really like the lug shape on this chronograph and the dial is just so beautiful and clean. Marc
