Girard Perregaux

Minute Repeaters and Girard Perregaux are not a recent story... Some you may not have in mind, were made as early as 1850, like this " Tact " pocket watch, which strikes the quarters, by Jean François Bautte & Co: Or this hunter case with quarter hour...  

As I wrote in my SIHH report, the way they finished the Fabrique du Temps movement is really impressive. They improved it also and the way the key parts are opened leads to a true joy for the eyes. From my side, I didn't find the regulator too noisy. Or I... 

And a few which were less noisy. But you know the story very well. When we love a brand we are much more demanding than with the brands we don't care about. Best, Nicolas.

I would love to hear its sound...I will investigate around here... Is the domed back sapphire a problem for comfort in wearing, Nico? I imagine it will be great for the sound, but it "sounds" at odds with comfort... I cannot appreciate in the photographs ...

What a beautiful minute repeater GP has produced for the 1966 collection. You did a great job covering the details of this piece inside and out. Is the movement manufactured by GP, or have they outsourced some of the production? Best, Mike

quite good and really gives you a full understanding of how GP gives us such a unique tone. I have definitely experienced a difference in tone with RG and other metals, but not on GP, so I will not rush to judgement. I am a big WG fan as you know, so this...

The watch was put on an amplificator to shoot the movie which is mandatory during the fair due to the noisy place. But you can have an idea! I find the sound clear but the pace of the notes is a bit too high for me. Best regards. Fx

A simple and sober look at the service of a superb complication. I wrote this review 3 months ago, and I will not change a world. One of my 2 or 3 faovurite watches from the SIHH, and may I add, from the Basel Fair, too. My only regret is that GP will mov... 

It puts all the focus on the repeater function while playing the role of a simple dress watch. I think it is cool when a high complication is not readily apparent, as with a tourbillon that is only displayed on the back of the watch. The movement is beaut... 

That is exactly why I love this GP. Simple, but how sophisticated, from its enamel dial to its complication and finish, of course. An excellent Minute Repeater. I am just eagerly waitnig to see it in white metal... Best, Stewart, and thanks for your input...

I tell you, my friend, this configuratuion is one of the most desirable I know, in the wrold of Haute Horlogerie. At least, from my point of view. As for this Minute Repeater, this is something to live in the real life. An unforgettable experience. Best, ...

Great post. For me the finest watch of the recent fairs. GP should be so much more successful than they appear to be. Their high end pieces are stunning, but they could really use a larger base movement and a manual wind integrated chronograph. And perhap... 

Their 1966 range is such a beautiful collection of watches. It evokes a warm sense of tradition, but "under the bonnet" it has some serious engineering to back it up.
