I have one of these!
It belonged to my grandfather. And I just re-discovered it the other day!
It's gold - not sure if gold-plated, gold-filled, or 'proper' gold. Stainless steel back. Missing the upper crown. As you can see, she needs some TLC and an overhaul. (Sorry, terrible iPhone pictures...)
Any recommendations for restoration? Should I send it back to GP?

Congratulation! :) Could you please check between the lugs at 6 o'clock - is it the same reference? 7742 R? As for the material, I suspect it is gold plated (that is often the case when the case back is steel). I would check if you have any local watchmak...
