A son sees the watch created by his father- Laureato 8010

A collector in the GP FB group posted a NWA announcement of his Gen 3 Laureato 8010 which is a rare bird made in 1995.

The late Luigi (Gino) Macaluso who was the owner and chairman of GP designed it to mark the 20th anniversary of the Laureato. It was the transition model for the switch from quartz to mechanical. Only a few hundred pieces made.

It was touching for me to see his son, Stefano Macaluso, leave this comment for the collector. ❤️

Stefano, who is also an architect and designer, went on to create the current Gen 5 of the Laureato for GP under the ownership of the Kering Group.

Just wanted to share this as it struck a chord with me.

The sentimental value of a watch is often seen from the collector POV. Perhaps it is also felt from the designer’s eyes when he sees a watch that was created by his father.

This is what it is all about for me.

I am yet to meet anyone who has bought a laureato 8010 day that they regret it. Jack Forster used to own one and after he sold it many years ago, it said that he missed it up to today. 🤝
