Lot 168 - Ferrari Red
A limited custom-ordered series of the Centigraphe just finished being auctioned. According to the description only 4 have been produced in 2010 suggesting others may also exist in prior years. The dial is made with the same paint used by Ferrari. The photo in the catalog doesn't capture the watch correctly. The subdial ring appears white in the photo when actually it blends more closely to the black subdials.
The final auction price was just below list price, a strong result in my opinion.
The limited Centigraphe features a red dial, black subdials with revised indicators and yellow hands. Personally I love the combination although I may be part of the minority on this one.
It's unclear if more variations will be produced. I suspect this series will end once FPJ runs out of the special paint.

The watch must have been special ordered, not widely known or made available. Seems odd that someone would order the watch and put it up at auction so quickly. I can understand why Journe wouldn't be happy. I wish I would have known It's pretty cool!!!!
Very interesting dial....

beautiful but..... I wonder if you could get tired of it..... I prefer the regular dial..... regarding the reason that was placed in auction.... maybe the owner got tired of it, had a bad experience (superstition).... or simply tried to flip it.... thanks...
