Mediterranean Food: Figs & Citrus

Many years ago I did a book about Plants of the Bible, which generally meant edible plants that grow in a Mediterranean climate. Here’s the list:

"Mediterranean climate" means temperate climate areas along a coastline bordering a body of water to their West, between 30-45 degrees from the equator. (I believe such locations also harbor many watch collections).

In our daily walks around San Diego County we have noticed a huge proportion of the homes (and some businesses) have these edible plants scattered around their property. Yesterday I took some pictures of CITRUS - mainly lemons, limes, oranges and tangerines.

FIGS

This morning my wife did a little research in our neighborhood, looking for FIGS. It’s not the season for figs and the plants are bare, but that makes them easy to find. Here’s a sprinkling of fig trees within a 1-2 mile radius:

CITRUS

To save you the trouble of looking for the other post, here are some of the citrus we found yesterday, in an area about 4-5 miles from us (our street is full of citrus too; we never buy lemons!)
