Lockdown-Loosening Lookout & Luxury
May 27, 2020,14:22 PM
Sometimes Ingredients=Luxury. In this case, yesterday we drove up to Mount Palomar, home of the giant telescope.
Here's the view from the road, looking south toward Mexico and the Pacific. The morning mist in from the ocean has not burned off yet.
We went around the telescope to visit Doane Pond, a place I had long heard about but never visited. It's beautiful, especially when the school-kid camp is empty.
Limit 5 trout in case you are wondering, but we weren't there to fish; just to look.
On our way down the mountain we stopped at Pala Indian Reservation and checked out one of the least known of the California Missions, built in 1816.
We had seen massively-overladen citrus while coming down the mountain,
so we stopped at a roadside stand and bought some.
I'm old enough to remember that Orange County got its name from Oranges, and I can remember always having fresh-squeezed juice (not concentrate from Florida, Brazil, etc. no offense to you all)
And that's when I decided to bake another loaf of bread so I could have fresh toast (not shown) with my orange juice.
How lucky we are.
